Intense Pulsed Light Laser Therapy releases light of many different wave lengths, like a photo flash.
IPL penetrates down to the second layer of your skin (dermis) without harming the top layer (epidermis), so it causes less damage to your skin.
Pigment cells in your skin absorb the light energy, which is converted into heat. The heat destroys the unwanted pigment to clear up freckles and other spots. Or, it destroys the hair follicle to prevent the hair from growing again.
You can use IPL anywhere on your body, but it isn't advised for people with multiple keloid scars. It’s also not effective on light-colored hair such as pale blonde, white and grey, but dark blonde and up is fine.

Here are the ways in which IPL can help you with some of the concerns outlined above.
Acne
For the treatment of mild to moderate acne.
This laser treatment destroys the P.Anes bacteria which is associated with the formation of spots, and shrinks the sebaceous glands (oil secreting glands). This in
turn reduces the amount of
sebum produced.
It tightens pores and stimulates collagen, also reducing any
discoloration left from previous breakouts. There will also be an improvement to mild acne scarring.
Typically 6 treatments
are required
with top-ups as and when
necessary.
Best results are seen in combination with a chemical peel.
Treatment spacing- 2-3 weeks.
For the treatment of freckles, lentigines (age spots / sun damage / liver spots), and solar lentigines (sun spots).
However we can’t treat moles, melasma, chloasma, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or anything bigger than 6mm.
The pigmented lesions will
absorb the light, which causes them to heat up. The
heat created damages the cells containing the melanin, while causing minimal
damage to the surrounding skin. Following treatment, the damaged lesions turn
darker and may crust. Over the following weeks they will gradually fade away
from the skin leaving little trace of the original mark.
1-3 treatments are required with treatment spacing 4-6 weeks.
Thread Veins
For the treatment of rosacea, facial telangiectasia, spider naevii, campbell de morgan
spots, poikiloderma of civatte and port wine stains.
However we can't treat blue/purple vessels, varicose veins and skin types 4-6.
The light heats up the vessel, causing the vessel to collapse (vessel blanching), or
causing the blood to coagulate within the vessel (vessel darkening). Over the following
weeks, the damaged vessels are absorbed naturally by the body so little or no trace of
the original lesion remains.
Typically 1-5 treatments depending on the type of lesion
Treatment spacing is every 4-6 weeks
